There's
so much going on, but we've got it all covered...
MAJOR
TOWNS | KAMPALA
Kampala
is the capital city of Uganda. Originally built on seven
hills, the city continues to expand rapidly with significant
growth of both residential and commercial fixtures. It
has a population of approximately one million friendly
and hospitable people. It is 35 kilometres from Entebbe
International Airport.
It is both an industrial and residential area, clustered
with a number of administrative units. Getting around
Kampala is quite easy, and there are three common methods
of transport; matatus (minibuses), boda boda (motorcycles)
and cabs. Boda bodas can surely get you anywhere in town
although they do not have fixed fares, meaning you need
to agree on the fare just before you embark on any journey.
Kampala city has a vibrant night life, with several night
clubs, bars and other hanging out spots. The bulk of these
you will find in Wandegeya or Kansanga, two parts of the
city where sleep sometimes seems like a luxury. If you
fancy a quieter life, then Sundays might be the best days
for you to get around.
The city boasts lots of wonderful restaurants, where you
can savour just about anything from Portuguese to Turkish
and Korean food. And ofcourse, there is lots of local
food on offer. And like we suspect, your interests will
reach beyond just the culinary, so why not take a tour
of the city's attractions when you'ev had your fill? Need
ideas on where to start? Well we have more than one: the
Kasubi Tombs, the Uganda Museum, a host of art galleries...
You are now set. Aren't you?
