MAJOR
TOWNS | MASAKA
Masaka
is located 80 miles South of Kampala. The district town
lies west of Lake Victoria. Attractions in Masaka include
Nabugabo sand beach, Hotel Brovad, Masaka Tourist Cottage
& Campsite, the Masaka campsites and hostels, Mpanga
Forest Eco-tourism site, Lake Nabugabo Campsite as well
as Masaka Backpackers cottage and campsite.
There is also the equator. Masaka Town is the regional
capital for the 4 districts of Masaka, Rakai, Sembabule
and Kalangala.
The district has a history of having suffered the twinge
pf the HIV/Aids pandemic. This in addition to sufferings
that resulted from the 1979 civil war that ousted the
dictatorial regime of Idi Amin.
